The problem we set out to solve
South Africa has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world. Millions of young people are motivated, intelligent, and willing to work — but the path from potential to employment is broken. Without a first job, you can't build a track record. Without a track record, you can't get a first job.
Meanwhile, employers face the opposite problem. They're flooded with unverified CVs, spend weeks screening, and still end up hiring on gut feel. When a hire doesn't work out, everyone loses — the employer, the candidate, and the business relationship built on the placement.
The root cause is the same on both sides: a lack of reliable proof. Workers can't demonstrate their readiness. Employers can't see it. ShiftMate was built to change that — not by adding another layer to a broken system, but by rebuilding the layer that was always missing.
