Every interview is just two questions.
That's it. Everything else is noise. Learn to answer those two questions like a boss — because once you understand what the person across the table is really thinking, interviews stop being scary.
Playbook next.

Sit in the boss's chair for a minute.
Imagine this. You own a small business. You posted one job. 400 people applied. You picked 10 to interview. You get 20 minutes with each one.
Whoever you choose, you're going to pay them your own money every single month and trust them with your customers.
Why this matters
Hiring someone isn't a reward. It's a risk. They're spending their time, their money and trusting you with their customers. The only question is: is this person a safer bet than the next candidate?
“I need a job” is what 390 of the 400 said.
It's honest. But it tells the boss nothing — everyone needs a job. They're asking whether you took 10 minutes to find out anything about them.
“I just really need work and I'm a hard worker.”
“I saw on your Facebook page that some of your team leaders started as agents two years ago. I'm looking for a place where my work can actually take me somewhere.”
Do your homework
Most candidates don't research the company. Be the one who does. It shows respect and makes you stand out for the right reasons.
Claims get nodded at. Proof gets hired.
The boss is asking: what's my proof that you'll pitch up every day, learn fast, and still be here in six months?
“I'm reliable and I learn fast.”
“I'm reliable — I helped at my aunt's spaza shop every weekend for two years and opened on time when she couldn't be there. I also taught myself to do stock counts on her phone in one weekend.”
Proof, not promises
Anyone can say they're a hard worker. Show me a real example from your life. That's what I can use.
Decode anything
Once you know the two questions, you can handle anything they throw at you. Every question is just one of the two wearing a different jacket. Keep it simple.
Every interview question is secretly one of the two.
They ask: “Tell me about yourself.”
They mean: Why should I hire you?
Move: Lead with proof, not your life story.
They ask: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”
They mean: Why do you want to work HERE?
Move: Show them your future includes their company.
They ask: “What are your strengths?”
They mean: Why should I hire you?
Move: Pick strengths that match the job. Bring proof.
They ask: “What's your biggest weakness?”
They mean: Can I trust you to be honest?
Move: Real weakness + what you're doing about it.
They ask: “Tell me about a challenge you faced.”
They mean: Will you survive a hard day here?
Move: Proof story. Situation, what you did, result.
They ask: “Do you have any questions for us?”
They mean: Do you actually care?
Move: Ask: What does success look like in the first 90 days?
They're not looking for reasons to say yes. They're crossing people off.
A bad hire costs a business serious money — training, mistakes, then starting the whole search again.

Keep it simple
No tricks. No memorising. Just two answers and three proof stories that show who you are.
Frequently asked questions
Why do employers ask why you want to work here?
They're checking whether you took the time to learn something about them. Everyone needs a job, so that answer tells them nothing. A strong answer connects one real fact about the company to one real thing about you.
Why do employers ask “why should we hire you?”
They want proof you'll show up, learn fast and still be there in six months. Don't just say “I'm reliable” — back every claim with a real example and the result it got.
How do I prepare for a job interview?
Spend about 30 minutes: build your “why here” answer by linking one fact about the company to one thing about you, write down three proof stories with real results, and remember that every question is really one of the two big questions.
What should I say when asked “tell me about yourself?”
It's really asking “why should I hire you?” Lead with proof that's relevant to the job, not your life story — a short example of something you did and the result it got.
What questions should I ask at the end of an interview?
Ask something that shows you care about doing the job well, such as “What does success look like in the first 90 days?” It signals you're thinking about the work, not just getting the offer.
