About This Role
<p>Keeping customers loyal is an art — and it's a skill that pays well. As a <strong>Customer Retentions & Sales Consultant</strong>, you'll engage existing and prospective clients to retain their business or convert them to a new product or service, playing a critical role in reducing churn while driving revenue.</p>
<p>You'll be part of our contact centre team in Umhlanga Ridge, Durban, handling both inbound and outbound calls with a focus on value retention and sales conversion. Whether you're saving a customer who is about to leave or upselling them to a better plan, your consultative skills will be front and centre.</p>
<h3>Your Core Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Engage customers inbound and outbound to understand their concerns and retain their business</li>
<li>Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities during every interaction</li>
<li>Use strong product knowledge to present compelling alternatives to customers considering cancelling</li>
<li>Achieve monthly retentions and sales targets</li>
<li>Log all interactions accurately in the CRM system</li>
<li>Participate in regular team training and coaching sessions</li>

Requirements
- Minimum 6 months of recent outbound or inbound sales experience, or retentions experience (essential)
- Experience in the telco industry is a strong advantage
- Proven track record of retaining customers or converting sales
- Clear criminal record
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English
- Calm, confident, and solution-focused under pressure
- Strong natural ability to change a customer's mind while remaining professional and respectful
- Skilled at identifying the real reason a customer wants to leave and addressing it directly
- Upsell instinct — able to convert retention conversations into upgrade or cross-sell opportunities
- Proven objection-handling skills in high-stakes or emotionally charged customer situations
- Comfortable handling both inbound and outbound calls across a full shift without drop in quality
