Safety Officer for a busy small restaurant and bar and events evenue

Ganesh is looking for a Doorman/Safety Officer to join our busy small restaurant, bar, and events venue in Observatory, Cape Town. This entry-level, full-time night shift role involves ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests and staff. You will be the first point of contact, managing entry and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. ### About the role This full-time Doorman position is crucial for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment at Ganesh. You will work night shifts, focusing on guest entry, managing queues, and addressing any issues that may arise to ensure smooth operations. ### What you'll do * Greet guests warmly and manage entry into the venue. * Monitor guest behaviour to prevent and address potential issues. * Handle situations involving intoxicated guests with professionalism and discretion. * Respond to and de-escalate instances of harassment effectively. * Conduct regular patrols of the venue perimeter to ensure safety. * Assist the Safety Officer in maintaining a secure environment. * Provide clear directions and information to guests as needed. ### What you need **Essential requirements:** * Ability to work consistent night shifts. * Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and manage crowds. * A calm and composed manner under pressure. * Basic understanding of safety and security principles. * Open minded and not biased against people's sexual orientation, race, heritage etc. **Useful experience:** * Previous experience in a customer-facing role. * Experience in a bar, restaurant, or events venue. * Experience in dealing with harassment Requirements: Crowd control; Conflict de-escalation; Guest entry management; Venue security monitoring; Intoxicated guest handling; Harassment intervention
